i S Y N R O L L E R D I A R I E S - part 2

This- following on from part one- is the second part of a mini EP consisting of tracks produced via my preferred creative weapon of choice- iOS music making apps. In particular, iSyn. This app was one of the earliest apps I ever used and one that really secured my love for making music via the hand held platform.

As I've said, the tracks were made using a really great app called iSyn and on my old iPhone4. Basically, there is no set arrangements on these tracks. Instead, they are live renders to audio, with me triggering filters, oscillators, mutes and fades, all using the apps 3D gyroscope function, that in turn utilizes the phones built in gyro functionality, allowing you to assign musical functions and parameters to the XY field. Basically, I'd punch in a 16 or 32 bar sequence consisting of only three tracks(drum, bass, synth). Once the groove was rolling around and vibey, I'd press record and render a live mix- to an online clipboard- using the above description to bring life to a spontaneous live recording pass(dubbing) of the sequence. So the results are these rough 2tr stereo renders of my ideas. Those in the underground UK dance music scene might refer to these as 'rollers' or 'a roller'.
If I had to describe them, I'd say these are basically techno with various leanings towards house, footwork, dub, 2step! The main emphasis here is on dance floor rollers;). So not too much deviation from the main groove. More subtle variations via
iSyn functionality.

Anyways, I've been sitting on these for quite a few years now- maybe almost a decade even! I'm seeing 2010-11 on many of the raw files 'date created' tags! So, what better time than now to get these out and into the hands of all you tanfastic music lovers! This one being the first part of a two part ep series- if there is such a thing!

Hope you enjoy..

Blessings
